23rd Boston Film Festival Dates Announced
Boston, MA...The dates for The 23rd Boston Film Festival are September 14-21, 2007 it was announced today. Filmmakers are invited to enter their shorts, documentaries and features beginning in April 2007. Robin Dawson is the Executive Director of the festival and the Creative Director is John Michael Williams. The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be Hollywood's preeminent filmmaker Jerry Weintraub, Oceans 11 series, The Karate Kid series, Pure Country, The Specialist, The Avengers.Robin Dawson stated, "We have altered the dates slightly so that the BFF is not running concurrently with any other large festivals including the Toronto Film Festival. The new dates afford filmmakers and studios the availability to attend both festivals which maximizes their opportunity for visibility of high profile fall and winter releases."
The Boston Film Festival has an extensive history of premiering notable films including: A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Deliver Us From Evil, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, North Country, Prime, Matchstick Men, American Beauty, Requiem For A Dream and The Piano.
"Our goal is to present a larger schedule of films and panel discussions that are engaging on the industry's leading topics. Boston has a broad arts and university system that helps to create a quintessential audience for filmmakers in combination with festival goers from the creative community," said Williams. A variety of awards will be presented that honor Hollywood's preeminent filmmakers and actors along with the new cutting edge directors. "Boston embodies rich history and diverse creativity offering the ideal environment for an urban celebration of film. The City is home to many premiere restaurants and hotels that host our evening parties where filmmakers network. The fall season really sets the perfect dramatic scene for the festival.
